Specialization: Rehabilitation, prevention and treatment of sports-related injuries. Special interests include treatment to injuried athletes, specifically of the knee, ankle and foot.

Casey Burruss decided to become an Athletic Trainer (ATC) because it was a profession that allowed her the perfect combination of a passion for sports and an interest in health care of physically active individuals.

“Athletic Training allows me to work with and connect with motivated and amazing individuals who are determined to get back to the activity or sport they love,” Casey says.

“It’s a profession that allows me to continue my hunger for knowledge and continue to connect and affect the active community that I have the pleasure of working with on a daily basis.”

Casey earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training with Honors from James Madison University in 2013. In college, she expanded her experience for advanced sports injury progression and rehabilitation.

She has worked with many young athletes, ranging from Division 1 athletics to sports summer camps at UVA.

Her passion for rehabilitation in varying sport related injuries led her to pursue a degree in physical therapy. She current specializes in the rehabilitation, prevention and treatment of sport-related injuries.

Special interests include treatment to injured athletes, specifically of the knee, ankle and foot.

When she is not working, her hobbies are running, watching UVA sports with her Dad, laughing with friends, playing with her nine-pound dog, Diesel, and supporting her alma mater, the JMU Dukes.
