Specialized Programs

Although we treat all conditions of the elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand, we offer specialized programs for in-depth evaluation and treatment of certain conditions.  Programs currently offered by The Hand Clinic include:

  • Performing Arts Medicine

Designed for musicians, the Performing Arts Medicine program addresses biomechanical issues that interfere with an individual’s ability to play their instrument—or that cause pain after playing—such as tendonitis, repetitive stress injuries, and arthritis. This program is for all instrumentalists, from beginners to professionals.

  • Adaptive Equipment Assessment and Education

Adaptive equipment education offers instruction in the use of appropriate tools to assist individuals in completing their daily activities with greater ease.  Have trouble opening jars? Buttoning your shirt or zippering your pants? Cutting your steak?  We can help!

  • Ergonomic Assessment

During an ergonomic assessment, the occupational therapist will address your posture, daily activities, work set-up and tools to ensure that you are minimizing your risk of injury.

  • Hand and Upper Extremity Sports Injuries

The Hand Clinic is the place to be if you are an athlete with an injury of your elbow, forearm, wrist, or hand.  Rehabilitation from a sports injury involves stretching, strengthening, sport-specific activities, and, in some cases, splinting.  Do you have tennis, golfer’s, or Little Leaguer’s elbow? Need a splint that you can wear under your lacrosse glove?  We’ve got you covered.
