Name: Addie Miller, DPT, CSCS

Specialization: Sports orthopedic injuries related to the shoulder, hip, knee and foot/ankle, post-surgical rehabilitation and total joint replacements, general orthopedic injuries.

Addie received her BS in Health and Human Performance, specializing in Exercise Physiology in 2002, and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from East Carolina University in 2008.  Since 2008, she has been working in orthopedic outpatient settings with patients of all ages, including pediatric.  Addie also is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.   She specializes in sports orthopedic injuries with a special interest in the shoulder, hip, knee, foot/ankle, and post-surgical rehabilitation.


Name: Albert Wong, PT, CSCS.

Specialization: Sports injuries and general orthopedic conditions, post operative rehab, shoulder/ knee injuries, neck and back dysfunctions.

Albert earned his B.S. in Marketing at New York University (1987) and received his B.S. in Physical Therapy at SUNY Syracuse (1993). His work experience has primarily been in the outpatient/orthopedic setting dealing with a wide variety of orthopedic conditions. He enjoys working with patients of any age and orthopedic condition but has a particular interest in working with athletic injuries. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a certified Kettlebell Instructor through Crossfit.


Name: Allison Shearer, MOT, OTR/L

Specialization: General orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation for the hand and upper extremity, musicians’ injuries, pediatric upper extremity injuries, and sports medicine injuries to hand and elbow.

Allison earned her BA in Music and Biology from the University of Virginia, and her Master of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She has experience in outpatient rehab, inpatient rehab, pediatrics, and geriatrics.  Allison treats patients with neurological and orthopedic diagnoses, including those who are both pre- and post-surgical.  She is especially interested in helping patients with hand and upper extremity injuries achieve maximal independence with their daily activities.  Allison is affiliated with the American Society of Hand Therapists and the American Occupational Therapy Association.


Name: Amber Meyers, MPT

Specialization: General orthopedic rehabilitation, cervical and lumbar spine dysfunction, shoulder dysfunction, joint replacement rehabilitation, and geriatrics

Amber holds a BS in biology from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and a MPT from The University of Iowa. She has been practicing physical therapy for 15 years, with experience in hospital settings, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient orthopedics. Amber most enjoys working with outpatient orthopedics patients of all ages.

Amy received her BS in Health Sciences/Athletic Training from Lock Haven University, and her MAEd in health education and MPT in physical therapy from East Carolina University. After beginning her career as an athletic trainer at East Carolina University, she began practicing physical therapy in 2001. In that capacity, she has worked in a variety of settings, including home health, sports physical therapy, and outpatient orthopedics, treating patients of all ages.


Name: Angela Kavounas, MPT

Specialization: Sports medicine and orthopedic injuries, postoperative rehabilitation, balance disorders, spinal dysfunction and stabilization, aquatics therapy, orthotic fabrication

Angie has her BS in Sports Medicine from the University of Virginia and her MPT from Virginia Commonwealth University. Angie enjoys working with overuse injuries as well as post surgical diagnoses to restore strength, balance and function especially of the foot and ankle. She specializes in biomechanics of gait and gait analysis and how this affects pain in the foot, knee, hip, spine and shoulders. She treats a variety of diagnoses from plantar fascitis to rotator cuff syndromes. Angie also fabricates custom orthotics.


Name: Ann DeJong, PT

Specialization: Orthopedic related injuries including pre and post-surgical rehabilitation, TMD (jaw pain), cervical dysfunctions and balance disorders.

Ann graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1989 with a bachelor degree in Physical Therapy.  She has worked for over 20 years in a variety of settings including home care, hospital rehabilitation settings, orthopedics and general medical surgical. For the past 15 years Ann has worked primarily in outpatient orthopedics in outpatient clinics in the US and Singapore.  Ann enjoys working with patients of all ages.


Name: Brandon Davis, ATC

Specialization: Prevention and management of sports-related injuries. Certified emergency medical technician (EMT-B).

Earned a BS in athletic Training at Roanoke College, Salem (2004). Licensed and certified athletic trainer since 2005. Certified emergency medical technician-Basic since 2007. Have served as the head athletic trainer for high school athletics for the past 4 years and is currently at Western Albemarle High School. His particular interests include the prevention of overuse injuries in multi-sport athletes and management of heat-related illnesses.


Name: Brooke Steere-Miller, DPT, ATC

Specialization: Treatment of Sports and Orthopedic Injuries, injury prevention and progression of exercise and stabilization programs.

Brooke graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 2000 and worked as an Athletic Trainer until she went back to physical therapy school in 2004. She graduated in May 2007 with a DPT degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She specializes in the treatment of sports and orthopedic injuries with a special interest in hip, knee, ankle and foot injuries.


Name: Carter White, DPT, COMT

Specialization: Sports and general orthopedic injuries, with a special interest in post-surgical rehabilitation of the shoulder and knee as well as manual therapy of the spine and extremities.

Carter received his BS in Kinesiology from Mississippi State University in 2005, where he also worked with the MSU Sports Medicine and strength and conditioning staff. He then received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2008, and since that time has been working in the outpatient orthopedic setting with patients of all ages. Carter is also a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist through the Maitland Curriculum, and is currently pursuing an APTA board certification in orthopedics.

Cathy earned a BS in Health and Physical Education from West Chester University as well as a MS in Health Sciences at James Madison University.  She practiced as an athletic trainer for over 25 years and earned a MS in Physical Therapy at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1992.  Cathy has worked in the outpatient orthopaedic setting in central Virginia over the last 17 years, specializing in orthopedic rehabilitation of the extremities and spine.  Cathy is a board certified orthopaedic specialist and also holds a certification as a Golf Fitness Instructor.  


Name: Christine Dean, PT

Specialization: General orthopedic rehabilitation, cervical spine and jaw disorders, shoulder dysfunction, and patient education on lifestyle change

Chris earned her BS in physical therapy from Ithaca College. She has been a physical therapist for over 30 years, working in a variety of settings. She began her career treating neurological, orthopedic, acute care, and pediatric patients in hospital settings. For the past 20 years, Chris has worked primarily in orthopedics.


Name: David Strickler, MPT, MA

Specialization: General orthopedic rehabilitation, treatment of spinal disorders, shoulder and knee dysfunction

Dave earned his BA in psychology from Albright College and an MA in psychology from American University. He worked four years with the chronically mentally ill before returning to school. He earned his MPT in physical therapy from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2001. His clinical interests are in general orthopedics, spine, knee and shoulder dysfunctions.


Name: Erin McNett, ATC

Erin graduated from Longwood University in 2008 with a BS in Kinesiology and a concentration in Athletic Training.  Throughout her college career Erin served on the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers Association Student Senate for the state of Virginia. She is currently the Head Athletic Trainer at Monticello High School. A Rockingham County native, Erin’s interests include assessment and treatment of athletic injuries as well as progression of sports-specific activities.


Name: Jana Early, PT

Specialization: General orthopedic rehabilitation, cervical and lumbar disorders, sports-related injuries, shoulder dysfunction, TMJ pain, BPPV treatment

Jana holds a BS from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis. She has been a physical therapist since 1971 and has worked at UVA and was the director of an outpatient clinic in Charlottesville, VA. Jana enjoys treating a wide variety of patients but specializes in orthopedics, rehab of the spine, sports injuries as well as TMJ disorders and treatment of BPPV.


Name: John Pugh, DPT, ATC

Specialization: Treatment of sports injuries and general orthopedic conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, foot/ankle, and post-op rehabilitation of the extremities.

John received his BS in Athletic Training in 2006 from Lenoir-Rhyne College. He then received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Elon University in 2009. He played collegiate baseball while attending Lenoir-Rhyne and has carried his passion for sports into his physical therapy practice. He enjoys working with injured athletes of any age and takes pride in returning them to their sport at a higher level. John is also an Athletic Trainer certified by the National Athletic Trainer's Association

Judy earned her BS in physical therapy from Ohio State University and her MS in orthopedic physical therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia. Judy has over 27 years of experience working as a physical therapist in a wide variety of settings. She enjoys working with all types of orthopedic patients, but specializes in women�s health problems including osteoporosis, back pain during pregnancy, incontinence, and coccydynia. Judy also has extensive geriatrics experience.

Executive Director

Specialization: Treatment of injured athletes, foot and ankle disorders, shoulder and knee dysfunction, gait assessment and fabrication of custom orthotics

Kim earned her BS in physical therapy from the University of Delaware and has been practicing as a physical therapist since 1990. She has experience in a wide variety of physical therapy settings. Since 1997, she has focused much of her attention on orthopedics in the outpatient settings. Kim's strongest areas of interests are in gait/foot assessments and custom orthotic fabrication, shoulder and knee dysfunction, and pre- and post-surgical patient care.

Specialization: Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) specializing in the treatment of hand and upper extremity injuries to include carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, sports medicine injuries and arthritic conditions of the hand. Fabrication of custom splints for the hand, fingers, thumb, wrist and elbow.

Kim is a Certified Hand Therapist, earning this designation of a CHT places Kim in an elite group of specialists who have met the standards set by experts in the field of Hand Therapy. She has the highest professional expertise in the specialty of hand therapy. Kim earned her BA in Psychology from University of Georgia and a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from Concordia University Wisconsin. She has practiced Occupational Therapy since 1999, primarily with outpatient orthopedic and neurological diagnoses. She is affiliated with the American Society of Hand Therapists and the American Occupational Therapy Association.


Name: Lizelle Lubbe, ATC

Specialization: Assessment and treatment of sports related injuries, knee and shoulder dysfunction, certified massage therapist.

Lizelle earned her MS in Exercise Science with a concentration in Athletic Training from the University at Buffalo in 2005. She has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 2005 and a Certified Massage Therapist since 2007. While attending UB she worked with a variety of Division I teams but since graduating has worked mainly with high school athletes. She currently serves as an Athletic Trainer at Albemarle High School.


Name: Margaret Lane, PT

Specialization: General orthopedic rehabilitation, post-operative rehabilitation, balance disorders, geriatrics, aquatic therapy.

Margaret earned a BS in zoology from Duke University and a BS in physical therapy from New York University in 1980. Prior to joining to PT@ACAC in 2006, she worked in several hospital settings as well as the outpatient physical therapy department at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She has experience treating acute care, cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and orthopedic patients and has conducted several educational classes in a wellness program. Margaret moved to Charlottesville in 2005 from Boise, Idaho and joined our team in 2006. She values patient education and enjoys working with patients of all ages.


Name: Martha Craddock, MEd, OT/L

Specialization: General orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation of the hand and upper extremity, adaptive equipment education, joint protection techniques, amputee training.

Martha earned her BS degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Florida, and her MEd in Exercise Physiology from the University of Virginia. Her experience varies from general rehabilitation, specialized rehabilitation in spinal cord injuries at the Shepherd Spinal Center, to acute care services including traumatic hand injuries, burns, various types of arthritis, and traumatic head injuries.  Martha has recently returned to the field of Occupational Therapy after some years of pursuing interest in art procurement and meeting family responsibilities.

Specialization: General orthopedics and women's and men's health issues including urinary incontinence, post surgical prostate/ hysterectomy/c-sections, pelvic pain issues.

Melissa earned her AS in physical therapy assistance from Pennsylvania State University following 2.5 years of pre-physical therapy coursework at Concordia University - Wisconsin. She has been practicing as a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant since 1999. Melissa focuses on the specialized field of women's and men's health issues and pelvic floor rehabilitation in addition to general orthopedics for foot/ankle dysfunction, lumbar and cervical spine dysfunctions, sacro-iliac joint dysfunction, total joint reconstructions, and rehab of shoulder conditions.


Name: Mike O'Grady, MS, PT

Specialization: Pediatrics - developmental and functional, youth sports-related injuries, postural and gait analysis, biomechanics, neuromuscular reeducation, orthotic assessment, and patient education.

Mike completed his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1994 and went on to earn his master's degree in Physical Therapy from Columbia University in 2001. For six years, he worked with young children in the New York City public schools as a PT and taught various continuing education courses to colleagues. He also has extensive experience with the orthopedic population. He enjoys treating people of all ages with a variety of orthopedic and spinal conditions, but his main area of interest is the younger population.

Nicole received her BS from James Madison University in kinesiology with concentrations in athletic training and pre-physical therapy. Renee received her BS in biology from Longwood College and her MS in exercise science from Old Dominion University. She is a certified athletic trainer as well as a certified strength and conditioning specialist, with 12 years experience. She is currently the head athletic trainer at The Covenant School. Renee's interests include assessment and treatment of athletic injuries as well as progression of sports-specific activities.


Name: Sarah Schmidt, PTA

Specialization: Aquatic PT, general orthopedics, injuries of the foot and ankle

Sarah earned her BS in biopsychology from Tufts University and her AS in physical therapy assisting from the College of Health Sciences. She has been working as a Physical Therapist Assistant since 1998, with experience in long-term sub-acute care and outpatient orthopedics.  Sarah specializes in aquatic physical therapy and has been spending her afternoons treating aquatic patients since 2002.  She also has experience with and enjoys treating joint replacements, foot and ankle injuries, low back pain and neck pain.  She was awarded the Recognition for Advanced Proficiency for the PTA in 2007.
