Emma Elton, PT, DPT
Specialization: Women’s health, all gender pelvic health, pregnancy/postpartum, general orthopedic rehabilitation
Emma completed her undergraduate degree at James Madison University in 2017, where she ran cross-country competitively and developed a passion for holistic healthy living. After returning from a three-week mission trip to Costa Rica, where she provided physical therapy services to underserved individuals, her excitement for the profession grew and her career path was determined!
Emma went on to receive her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2020 and is currently pursuing a Women’s Health Specialization in pelvic and obstetric health. It is her mission to educate the community on pelvic dysfunction in men, women and children and provide the resources necessary for patients to regain comfort, confidence and daily fulfillment. Emma strongly advocates that pelvic floor assessments and rehab should be a routine part of recovery following pregnancy and delivery to assure optimal function for years to come. Additionally, Emma has participated in continuing education courses on the shoulder and knee and is creative in her treatment approach.
After recently getting married in May 2020, the newlyweds moved from Roanoke to Charlottesville in order for her husband to begin his anesthesiology residency at the University of Virginia. It is her desire to become involved with local running training as she becomes better acquainted in a new city! You can find Emma running the hills of Charlottesville, enjoying Shenandoah National Park and Skyline drive, roaming the aisles of Trader Joe’s, at one of the city’s many vineyards, exploring nutrition, and cooking with her husband.
