Melanie is a certified, licensed occupational therapist. Her passion for becoming an OT started with her brother, who has Down Syndrome and Autism. She grew up attending his therapy appointments with him and saw how impactful therapy was on his life. From there she knew that working with people with disabilities, of all sorts, was her goal to be someone that positively impacts this population. Through her experiences in school, she found that working with people with neurological conditions is where she feels she has the biggest impact. She's also excited to be involved in lymphedema care for the upper limb and chest.
Melanie is from Colorado, but before settling there had moved around from New Mexico, Florida, and Texas as her dad is a retired Air Force pilot. She attended Colorado State University for her bachelors in Psychology. She traded the tall, snowy Rockies for the lush, historic Blue Ridge mountains and received her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from Mary Baldwin University-Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences. She enjoys participating in horseback riding and roller derby. She is happy to call Charlottesville her home.
