Shannon Wyant

Shannon Wyant, PT, DPT

Specialization: general orthopedics, sports-related injuries, dance medicine, balance disorders, running injuries, injury prevention

Shannon is an Augusta County local and developed an interest in physical therapy at a young age. She began dancing when she was 5 and became aware of the profession as a result of minor injuries during her time dancing. Physical therapy was intriguing for her as it provided an avenue to improve function and decrease pain without medications. Shannon began shadowing in a physical therapy clinic in high school to increase her understanding of the profession and gravitated towards orthopedic and sport related injuries.

Shannon received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Shenandoah University and graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Mary Baldwin University's Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences in 2021. Her clinical education allowed her ample experience in the outpatient setting as well as a skilled nursing facility. She treated a variety of orthopedic and neurological conditions which varied from simple to complex in nature. Shannon hopes to create a dance program in the area for rehabilitation and injury prevention for this population. Shannon is passionate about providing equitable, compassionate and individualized care to return patients to their prior level of function and reach their therapy goals.

Away from the clinic, Shannon loves exploring outdoors and staying active in the gym. She also enjoys hiking, baking, gardening and spending time with her husband.
