Louisa Bair, PT, CIMT

Specialization: Addresses Back, Sacral-iliac joint, Lumbar, Thoracic, and Cervical spinal dysfunctions with a manual approach, manual techniques, muscle energy techniques, Graston technique for fascia mobility, and "Egoscue" alignment therapeutic exercise for orthopedic rehabilitation and for return to optimal function.

Louisa Bair moved naturally into Physical Therapy as a profession because of her life-long interest in studying movement in the human body. She had a background as a massage therapist and wanted to enhance her talent and insight into the science of body movements, so she decided to pursue PT studies.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland in 1993 and has been practicing in and around Charlottesville in a variety of settings since then. She has worked in many fields, from home health to orthopedics.

“I am very passionate and curious about the spine and am always inspired by my patients in their commitment to their health and well-being,” she says. “That makes me look harder and deeper for a treatment that works for them. To me that is fulfilling work.”

Louisa now specializes in backs, sacroiliac joint, lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spinal dysfunctions. She focuses on a manual approach using manual techniques, muscle energy techniques and “Egoscue” alignment therapeutic exercise for orthopedic rehabilitation and for return to optimal function.  Louisa recently received a certification in the Graston technique for instrument-assisted fascia mobilization.

When she is not working, she loves to hike with her dogs (Whippets) in the surrounding woods and the Blue Ridge Mountains, hunting for wildflowers. She’s involved with Champion Trees and is also an avid birdwatcher. The wren and the raven are her favorites.
