Physical Therapy at acac in Waynesboro
Now Offering Free Introductory Screenings
Physical Therapy at acac (PT@acac) opened a new clinic to serve patients in the Waynesboro area on January 18, 2021. Physical therapists and athletic trainers are seeing patients on Mondays and Wednesdays in the clinic, with plans to expand treatment hours by the end of February and beyond.
Physical Therapy at acac in Waynesboro announces they are now offering Free Introductory Screenings.
“If you are wondering if physical therapy can help you with pain, an injury, or getting back into exercise safely, an introductory screening with us is an easy way to find out,” says Erin Brooks MS, ATC, the clinic site coordinator and a veteran athletic trainer with PT@acac. “It’s quick, free, and can help you decide if pursuing a course of physical therapy may help you become pain-free and more active.”
Steve Berkey DPT highly recommends the screenings: “It’s free, and a great no-obligation way to see a PT@acac Physical Therapist or Athletic Trainer. The screening determines if PT might be able to help you. You’ll receive answers and a plan for improvement and treatment, and get to see this wonderful new clinic facility we have opened to serve patients in the Shenandoah Valley.”
Brooks and Berkey note that PT@acac’s Intro Screenings are ideal for individuals who:
• have pain that won’t go away or a persistent injury.
• difficulties that keep them from reaching their ultimate fitness goals.
• are new to exercise with a history of joint issues or injuries.
To make an appointment for a Free Introductory Screening at PT@acac, call 540.943.2222 or send an email ptatwb@acacpt.com. Please note: You do not need to be a member of acac Fitness & Wellness Centers to obtain services from Physical Therapy@acac.
Physical Therapy at acac’s newest facility includes physical therapy treatment areas and some therapy-related fitness equipment in a space adjacent to Sentara Healthcare’s new walk-in clinic, Sentara Primary Care, located at 760-B Town Center Drive, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
From the beginning of the COVID-19 Corona virus pandemic in early 2020, PT@acac has been able to continuously treat patients. The team immediately implemented heightened safety measures in all five of their current clinic locations that meet or exceed CDC Guidelines when issues with the spread of COVID-19 became a concern, and they continue to be steadfast in protecting patient and team health.

Have you ever heard the phrase “exercise is the best medicine?” Regular exercise helps people remain limber, boosts physical health, enhances mental performance and resilience, and improves longevity. It also reduces the risk of certain age-related issues.
When you are not able to access a fitness center, it’s great to know that you can still exercise as much as you wish at home.

Cross country skiing is a fast-paced outdoor sport that provides a full-body workout. Although the risk of getting injured during this activity is relatively low, it can still happen.
Selecting the right equipment, stretching before skiing, and proper body positioning can help prevent unnecessary injuries such as muscle strain and overuse, knee sprains, or a dislocated shoulder.
