Team members and patients were encouraged to bring in specificed donated goods to clinic locations, and PT@acac team members offered to deliver the gathered donations to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
Despite all of the busy-ness early fall brings, everyone stepped up and food donations well exceeded what project organizers imagined…in just one week!
"I’m so proud of the sense of community that this demonstrates. We have such an amazing group of people and some amazing patients, too!" said Albemarle Square PT@acac clinic manager Sarah Schmidt, PTA.
The final tally of the National Food Bank Day donation from PT@acac: a total of 581 pounds of donations. The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank estimates that this donation will be enough to provide 484 meals for people in the community.
These specific donations collected by PT@acac will be used towards making Emergency Food Boxes.
"BRAFB was impressed that we were able to collect so much in such a short period of time," said Schmidt. "I can't thank my colleagues and our patients enough. It makes my heart smile!"
