PT@acac Provides Snacks and Supplies to Students

PT@acac Clinic's Community Outreach Project Helps Elementary School Students

PT@acac's Albemarle Square coordinated an outreach project for an elementary school in our community.

Team members have collected about 1,000 donated snack items and packed 100 lunchboxes with snacks, pencils, and ice packs. The reusable lunchboxes were donated for direct distribution to students as school began in Charlottesville on August 23.

The snack and supply packs were donated to Jackson Via Elementary School, in which 72% of the student population is considered economically disadvantaged and 86% of the students are eligible for free and reduced lunch. These meal programs do not typically support the two snack times children are provided during the school day; classrooms depend solely on parent and family donations of snacks for kids who don't have them.

The Albemarle Square team plans to sustain this outreach project, and plans to complete a "refill" collection of snack items and supplies in November of 2023
